The trail starts through a beautiful dense forest on a well graded trail
After a few miles, it opens to a boulder field and heads up to Stujack pass
View west from the pass
View north to White Chuck mountain
The trail then gets really fun, following a knife edge ridge as it heads over to the main summit block
After traversing the ridge, there are a few easy scrambling spots and mostly all trail to the summit
Me and Al at the top
The summit used to house a fire lookout cabin, long since dismantled. Al was collecting old nails
Sloan Peak, our objective for later this summer
One of the only snow patches left and the only time we used our ice axes. Al got his out right after this shot
Yet more shots of Al. Plenty for his great grand kids to admire some day
The rest of the trip was uneventful, except for the visit to the most red-neck bar I've ever been to, in logging town of Darrington. We were both surprised to see they had one decent (albeit pedestrian) beer on draft (Mirror Pond), but all the locals were drinking cans of Bud and Coors. They could tell we definitely were not from around there.
